Hearing Health Care for Nursing Homes

Nursing homes and other long term care facilities usually provide their patients ear health services. These are the services you should look for:

Your home should ask for an ear canal and ear wax assessment survey. This is done by a licensed nurse or our audiologist and trained assistants. A list of all candidates that need wax removal, or have ear health problems that may need attention, will be provided to your designated staff member. Your staff remains aware of and involved in any recommendations. Then schedule an audiologist and/or hearing specialist and assistant for ear wax removal, hearing assessments, and, when needed, hearing aid fitting and services under the Medicaid program at your facility. Find an office that provides the staff needed for all procedures. Your Social Services Director, or other designated staff member, will be given a recommendation letter for those not eligible under Medicaid.
