Teacher's Have Enough Stress Factors, Hearing Loss Doesn't Have To Be One Of Them!

When my daughter Robin began teaching 8th grade science, I discovered two new insights about teaching. One is that what happens in the classroom is only a small part of what a teacher is responsible for, and the other is that teachers are exposed to more stress than I ever realized.

The stress she was under was the biggest surprise to me. Not only did she have her own expectation to deal with, but those of the students, the parents, and the administration were all different, and she was the focal point of meeting all of their agendas!

The last thing a teacher needs is more stress.

Few people realize how damaging stress can be.

I recently ran into a snippet from an article that was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. It stated:

75% to 90% of all doctors visits are due to stress-related ailments and stress-related disorders. Chronic acute stress leads to an out of balance biochemistry with elevated cortisol and suppressed serotonin. These biochemical markers of stress in turn lead to ill health and psychological disorders. Consequently, stress plays a major causative role in both physical and mental health.

Stress can affect the onset of, or susceptibility to disease. It can also affect the progression or course of disease, even when there is another cause of the disease; and stress can affect one’s recovery from disease.

If you, your spouse, or another teacher you care about has a hearing loss, it can contribute greatly to the stress level. Unfortunately, in the current economic climate, the investment needed for quality digital hearing aids is beyond the reach of many teachers.

But a unique program from New Perceptions In Hearing is changing this and removing the price barrier for millions of people! And now, Hearing Haven, in partnership with New Perceptions In Hearing, offers a hearing health plan designed especially for teachers.

The original "Hearing For Life" plan available to the general public allows anyone to obtain hearing aids with an activation fee ranging from $750 to $2500, and then “subscribe” to a cell phone like plan, which gives them all their services, free hearing aid repairs, batteries and adjustments. The key benefits to the plan are that they get new hearing aids every 48 months, and there is no early termination penalty, so they can “opt out” at any time.

The problem has still been the cost of entry. A number of our clients would be able to pay the monthly subscription cost, usually $97 to $117 each month, but just are not able to fit in the activation fee.

Teacher's Can Now Get Hearing Aids With A Reduced Activation Fee!

While we are not able to offer a program to the general public without the activation fee, a new plan for teachers in both the Dallas and Houston metro areas is now available. Until a number of available program slots have been filled, Hearing Haven is pleased to announce that we will provide digital hearing instruments to teachers with a reduced activation fee.

Under the “Teacher’s Hearing For Life” program, any teacher in the Dallas or Houston metro areas may apply to be fit with two new digital hearing aids, with a reduced activation fee. To participate in the program, they are asked to make their first monthly payment with their application for service, and then continue their monthly subscription by either automatic credit card, debit, or checking account ACH. If you or someone you know is considering hearing aids, there are two simple steps to take now.

1) Call Hearing Haven to discuss an evaluation with one of our audiologists or specialists. A hearing test will be provided with no obligation and no charge, and you will be able to ask any questions you have about hearing loss, hearing aids, and the “Teacher's Hearing for Life” plan.

2) If you are a candidate for hearing assistance, you can chosoe from an in office demonstration, a three day test drive, or subscribe to the “Teacher’s Hearing For Life” program, knowing that you receive a 30 day trial period to hear the benefits and improvements in your daily communications.
